The moment you step onto the Bear Mountain golf course, you will be struck by the pristine beauty of your surroundings. Mountain, ocean, and city views are laid out before you, enhancing your golf experience. Legendary golf architects Jack and Steve Nicklaus designed the Bear Mountain golf course to complement the incredible natural scenery of British Columbia, while providing a course that will challenge and delight golfers of all skill levels.
The greens go on forever – at least, longer than most others. At 7,200 yards, Bear Mountain will keep you engaged through all 19 holes – that’s right, 19 holes. The scenery you admire at tee-off quickly becomes a challenge as you steer your way through the natural hazards of trees, gullies, creeks, and 72 bunkers. Generous landing greens are present throughout the course, a trademark of designer Nicklaus. Particularly delightful is hole 11, at 152-yards. As you approach the green, a magnificent waterfall frames your view of the hole; but don’t let this distract you as the green is an island and one wrong shot may make or break your round!
What better way to end your day than by taking advantage of Bear Mountain’s many amenities? Indulge in a post-game drink outside on the Sunset Patio, where you can recap the highlights of your day, or enjoy true West Coast cuisine at the Copper Rock Grill. Victoria is only minutes away with fantastic art galleries, theatres, and sightseeing expeditions – the staff at Bear Mountain will take care of your every need! If you want to escape for a few days, the 65-room boutique hotel will provide the perfect hideaway, where extensive views of the course and Mt. Finlayson provide a stunning backdrop to your stay.
Bear Mountain has been hailed as the premier semi-private course of BC, recently rated the #1 course in Canada in Westworld Magazine. In 2006, a new 160,000 square foot clubhouse, a spa and a conference centre will be completed, and 2007 will welcome a second Nicklaus-designed course. With all this excitement, how can you resist the call of the West?
